Troubleshoot RP9 Files
Frequent RP9 Opening Issues
Missing Amiga Forever
When you double-click your RP9 file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Amiga Forever isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your RP9 with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens RP9 files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect Amiga Forever Version
In other instances, your RetroPlatform Disk Image Archive file version may not be supported by your version of Amiga Forever. Installing the latest version of Amiga Forever from Cloanto Corporation is recommended. Your RetroPlatform Disk Image Archive file was probably created by a newer release of Amiga Forever than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your RP9, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Regardless, most of the RP9 file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Amiga Forever installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading RP9 Files
Although you might already have Amiga Forever or another RP9-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening RetroPlatform Disk Image Archive files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading RP9 files, other external issues might be to blame. Other contributing causes:
- Windows Registry RP9 file paths that are incorrect
- Accidental deletion of the description of the RP9 file in the Windows registry
- Defective install of a RP9 program, such as Amiga Forever
- Something has caused file corruption of your RP9
- The RP9 is infected with a virus
- Drivers associated with RP9 software need to be updated
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your RetroPlatform Disk Image Archive file successfully
