Sources of C4U Problems
Common C4U Opening Problems
OpenClonk Isn't There
If you attempt to load your C4U file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open C4U Files". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have OpenClonk for %%os%% installed on your computer. The typical path of opening your C4U with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: Another C4U-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect OpenClonk Version
It is possible that your version of OpenClonk isn't able to open your OpenClonk Update System File file due to incompatibility. Visit the Open Source website to download (or purchase) the latest version of OpenClonk. This issue mainly occurs when your OpenClonk Update System File file was created by a newer version of OpenClonk than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your C4U file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the C4U file opening problems relate to not having the right version of OpenClonk installed.
Other Causes of C4U File Opening Problems
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of OpenClonk will resolve your issue. If you are still having problems opening C4U files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Other contributing causes:
- Windows Registry C4U file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the C4U file inside the Windows Registry
- Partial installation of OpenClonk that did not fully complete
- The C4U itself is corrupted
- C4U file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware associated with C4U has outdated drivers
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the OpenClonk Update System File format
