CLKP Troubleshooting
Common CLKP Opening Problems
Crick software clicker Not Present
If you attempt to load your CLKP file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open CLKP Files". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Crick software clicker isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your CLKP with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you don't have Crick software clicker installed, and you know of another program to open your CLKP file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of Crick software clicker
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Clicker Palette file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Download the latest Crick software clicker version from the Crick Software website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your Clicker Palette file was created by a different (newer) version of Crick software clicker than what's installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of CLKP file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening CLKP files are due to having the incorrect version of Crick software clicker installed on your computer.
Other Causes of CLKP File Opening Problems
Although you might already have Crick software clicker or another CLKP-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Clicker Palette files. Other CLKP opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:
- File references in the Windows Registry for CLKP are wrong
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry CLKP description
- Invalid installation of a CLKP-associated program (eg. Crick software clicker)
- The CLKP itself is corrupted
- Your CLKP is infected with malware
- Device drivers for CLKP-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Clicker Palette file
