Understanding UVX Issues
Common UVX Opening Problems
Unreal Tournament 2003 Isn't There
When you double-click your UVX file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Unreal Tournament 2003 for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: When another UVX application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Incorrect Unreal Tournament 2003 Version
Sometimes your installed version of Unreal Tournament 2003 won't support your Unreal Tournament 2003 Saved Game File file. Download the latest Unreal Tournament 2003 version from the Epic Games website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Unreal Tournament 2003 Saved Game File file version that was created by a newer version of Unreal Tournament 2003 than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your UVX file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the UVX file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Unreal Tournament 2003 installed.
Other UVX File Opening Causes
Errors opening Unreal Tournament 2003 Saved Game File files can still occur even with the latest Unreal Tournament 2003 software installed on your computer. Other UVX opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. These issues include:
- Invalid UVX file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- The UVX file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Partial installation of Unreal Tournament 2003 that did not fully complete
- The UVX itself is corrupted
- Your UVX has adversely impacted by malware
- Hardware associated with UVX has outdated drivers
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Unreal Tournament 2003 Saved Game File format
