Understanding DPG Issues
Common Problems Opening DPG Files
Missing MoonShell
When you double-click your DPG file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have MoonShell for %%os%% installed on your computer. You won't be able to double-click to open your DPG because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens DPG files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Obsolete Version of MoonShell
In other instances, your Nintendo DS Movie File file version may not be supported by your version of MoonShell. If you do not have the proper version MoonShell (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Right-clicking on your DPG, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening DPG files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other DPG File Issues
Although you might already have MoonShell or another DPG-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Nintendo DS Movie File files. Other DPG opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- File references in the Windows Registry for DPG are wrong
- The DPG file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- MoonShell or another DPG application experienced a flawed installation
- The DPG itself is corrupted
- The DPG is infected with a virus
- DPG-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Windows cannot load your Nintendo DS Movie File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
