Troubleshoot GEO Files
Typical GEO Opening Challenges
TurboCAD Not Present
If you attempt to load your GEO file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open GEO Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have TurboCAD installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your GEO with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your GEO file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect TurboCAD Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of TurboCAD installed that's incompatible with your VRML Geography File type. Download the latest TurboCAD version from the IMSI/Design, LLC website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your VRML Geography File file was created by a different (newer) version of TurboCAD than what's installed.
Tip: Investigate your GEO file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the GEO file opening problems relate to not having the right version of TurboCAD installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening GEOs
Although you might already have TurboCAD or another GEO-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening VRML Geography File files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening GEO files. Additional factors include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for GEO
- Deletion of the GEO file description from the Registry by mistake
- Partial installation of TurboCAD that did not fully complete
- The GEO itself is corrupted
- Past or present virus infection has affected your GEO
- Device drivers for GEO-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the VRML Geography File file
