My Technology Journey

I have been in love with computers, Windows, and technology ever since I first played "Where in The World is Carmen Sandiego?" on my elementary school's Compaq DeskPro computer back in 1989. Not only did that did that experience make me hungry to learn everything I could about computers, but also gave me a hunger to learn about the world as well!

Mike and Jason 1992

When I started middle school in the early 1990s, my best friend Mike and I started a local BBS (Bulletin Board System) in our hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was called "The Fifth Dimension", and it was built on the WWIV Bulletin Board platform for MS-DOS (we both knew more DOS commands than probably most of the people employed at Microsoft in those days!). On our BBS, we would play text-based games like Usurper for hours on end, while drinking a dozens of cans of Coke, up until late hours in the night. :)

In between the fun, we ended up building The Fifth Dimension to have over 5,000 members in a city of only about 100,000, at one point consuming three land lines. Needless to say, it was quite an accomplishment for a couple of young kids.

Windows 95 Beta

In high school, instead of playing sports and being typical teens in the 1990s, Mike and I would spend our time building our own computers, and even building a few "PC-Compatibles" for our friends and family. We were so geeked out with Windows 3.1 that we managed to "sneak" into the Windows 95 beta testing program at just 13 years old, haha.

Papa Johns

After graduation, Mike continued his love for computers by becoming one of the top programmers on Wall Street. I, on the other hand, started my first business at 19 years old making computer-based vinyl graphics and signs, using AutoCad and other self-taught applications.

Although we made all kinds of graphics and stickers, we specialized in doing automotive graphics, even running advertisements in Super Street magazine, and selling pre-made graphics on the web! One of my favorite accomplishments from those days was making a huge Papa John's pizza box for a local racetrack promotion... it was quite an undertaking, but very cool when it was finished!

Mike and Jason 2009

Fast-forward twenty years... I find myself as the founder and CEO of Solvusoft Corporation, a worldwide computer software company.

My hunger to learn and acquire knowledge about the world led me to translate our utility software into over 25 different languages, so that we could not only serve those users in English-speaking countries, but the rest of the Windows users around the world. I'm happy to say that we have helped people in over 170+ countries solve their computer problems and get their PCs running at peak performance.

Jason Geater today

I've come a long way since my days of playing "Carmen Sandiego", but my passion for computers and technology is still as strong now as it was back then. I'm still enjoying chatting about the latest gadgets, Windows 10, and helping people solve their computer problems. :)

Please feel free to contact me anytime, if you have a question that you need answered. The easiest way to reach me is through my Facebook page, where I'm frequently talking all things tech.
