Troubleshoot SMH Files
Common SMH Opening Problems
Unsealer Isn't There
You attempt to load your SMH file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The SMH File Extension". Usually, this is because you do not have Unsealer for %%os%% installed. The typical path of opening your SMH with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: Another SMH-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Unsealer Requires Update
It is possible that your version of Unsealer isn't able to open your Sealed MHT Document file due to incompatibility. Download the latest Unsealer version from the Oracle Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. Your Sealed MHT Document file was probably created by a newer release of Unsealer than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Investigate your SMH file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening SMH files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other SMH File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Unsealer will resolve your issue. Other SMH opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Other contributing causes:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for SMH
- The SMH file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Unsealer or another SMH application experienced a flawed installation
- Your SMH can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Malware-tainted SMH file can't be opened
- Device drivers for SMH-related hardware are out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Sealed MHT Document file successfully
