SM File Complications

Common Problems Opening SM Files

Missing StepMania

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open SM Files" when trying to open your SM. Usually, this is because you do not have StepMania for %%os%% installed. You won't be able to double-click to open your SM because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: If you know of another program that can open your SM file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.

StepMania Requires Update

Sometimes your installed version of StepMania won't support your StepMania Song File file. If you do not have the proper version StepMania (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a StepMania Song File file version that was created by a newer version of StepMania than what you have installed on your PC.
