Sources of TCL Problems
Frequent TCL Opening Issues
MacroMates TextMate Isn't There
You attempt to load your TCL file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The TCL File Extension". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have MacroMates TextMate for %%os%% installed on your computer. The typical path of opening your TCL with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens TCL files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Wrong Version of MacroMates TextMate is Installed
Sometimes your installed version of MacroMates TextMate won't support your Tcl Script file. If you do not have the proper version MacroMates TextMate (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a Tcl Script file version that was created by a newer version of MacroMates TextMate than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your TCL file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening TCL files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading TCL Files
Although you might already have MacroMates TextMate or another TCL-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Tcl Script files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading TCL files, other external issues might be to blame. Additional factors include:
- Windows Registry TCL file paths that are incorrect
- Accidental deletion of the description of the TCL file in the Windows registry
- Corrupt install of MacroMates TextMate or other TCL-related program
- Something has caused file corruption of your TCL
- Your TCL is infected with malware
- Device drivers for TCL-related hardware are out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Tcl Script file successfully
