Troubleshooting Problems Opening RD Files
Common Problems Opening RD Files
Sublime Text Isn't There
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open RD Files" when trying to open your RD. Customarily, this means that Sublime Text is not installed on %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your RD file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens RD files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect Sublime Text Version
Your R Document File file is incompatible with Sublime Text because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Sublime Text if you don't have the right version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your RD file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right Sublime Text version on your computer can cause problems opening RD files.
Associated Difficulties Loading RD Files
You can still experience errors opening RD files even with the latest version of Sublime Text installed on your PC. Other RD opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for RD
- Corruption of the RD file description inside the Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the RD format
- The RD itself is corrupted
- The RD is infected with a virus
- Hardware associated with RD has outdated drivers
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the R Document File file
