Troubleshoot DOR Files
Common DOR Opening Problems
ARCHICAD Disappeared
You attempt to load your DOR file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The DOR File Extension". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have ARCHICAD for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the DOR file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens DOR files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
ARCHICAD Requires Update
In other instances, your ArchiCAD Geometric Description Language File file version may not be supported by your version of ARCHICAD. Visit the Graphisoft website to download (or purchase) the latest version of ARCHICAD. This issue mainly occurs when your ArchiCAD Geometric Description Language File file was created by a newer version of ARCHICAD than you have on your PC.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your DOR file and clicking "Properties".
Regardless, most of the DOR file opening problems relate to not having the right version of ARCHICAD installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading DOR Files
You can still experience errors opening DOR files even with the latest version of ARCHICAD installed on your PC. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening DORs. Issues that aren't software-related:
- File references in the Windows Registry for DOR are wrong
- Corruption of the DOR file description inside the Registry
- Partial installation of ARCHICAD that did not fully complete
- File corruption affecting your DOR file
- DOR file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware related to DORs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the ArchiCAD Geometric Description Language File format
