Understanding TDP Issues
Frequent TDP Opening Issues
Serif WebPlus Disappeared
If you attempt to load your TDP file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open TDP Files". Customarily, this means that Serif WebPlus is not installed on %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your TDP file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you don't have Serif WebPlus installed, and you know of another program to open your TDP file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Serif WebPlus Requires Update
It is possible that your version of Serif WebPlus isn't able to open your Sherif DrawPlus Thumbnail File file due to incompatibility. If you've got the wrong version of Serif WebPlus installed, you'll need to install the correct version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Sherif DrawPlus Thumbnail File file was created by a different (newer) version of Serif WebPlus than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your TDP file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening TDP files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other Causes of TDP File Opening Problems
Assuming you have the right Serif WebPlus version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening TDP files. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening TDPs. Additional factors include:
- Invalid TDP file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Corruption of the TDP file description inside the Registry
- Corrupt install of Serif WebPlus or other TDP-related program
- Your TDP can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- TDP file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Drivers associated with TDP software need to be updated
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Sherif DrawPlus Thumbnail File files
