MO3 File Complications

Common MO3 Opening Problems

XMMS Isn't There

You attempt to load your MO3 file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The MO3 File Extension". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have XMMS for %%os%% installed on your computer. The typical path of opening your MO3 with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.

Tip: When another MO3 application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Outdated XMMS

Sometimes your installed version of XMMS won't support your MO3 Audio File file. Installing the latest version of XMMS from Open Source is recommended. Most of the time your MO3 Audio File file was created by a newer XMMS than what you have installed.

Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of MO3 file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).

Conclusion: The majority of MO3 file opening issues are due to not having the correct XMMS version installed.

Other MO3 File Issues

You can still experience errors opening MO3 files even with the latest version of XMMS installed on your PC. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening MO3s. Problems unrelated to software:

  • Windows Registry MO3 file paths that are incorrect
  • Corruption of the MO3 file description inside the Registry
  • Partial installation of XMMS that did not fully complete
  • Your MO3 file is corrupted (issues with your MO3 Audio File file itself)
  • Past or present virus infection has affected your MO3
  • Device drivers for MO3-related hardware are out-of-date
  • Insufficient system resources to successfully open MO3 Audio File files
